Picnic Table Hack

My “honey-do” list is often influenced by my wife’s Pinterest obsession.  She found this particular hack a couple of weeks ago.

We had an extra picnic table in the backyard, so I gave it a shot.  It turned out pretty nice – and just in time for the 4th of July.

I removed the two middle planks on the top of the table, snipped a piece of metal roofing to fit inside, fastened it down and trimmed it out nicely.  After reinforcing some of the structural integrity of the table, it was ready for use!

The “built-in-cooler” compartment holds about a 12-24 drinks and two bags of ice. Placed under a large patio umbrella, everything stays cold for a few hours.  Very useful for holding cold drinks and interesting conversations during summer BBQs!
